Hypergene provides Wibax with a cohesive system for better overview
Since the mid-1980s, the privately owned chemical supplier Wibax has developed its logistics network. The operations consist of activities such as sales, importation, production and distribution, primarily of liquid chemical products. Environmental awareness and sustainability have always been key points of focus for Wibax, which is also reflected in the KPIs and activities by which the company manages its strategy. Wibax currently has around 180 employees in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, just over 70 of whom work as truck drivers, with the roads between the company’s various terminals and depots as their primary workplace. The company’s head office is located in Piteå in northern Sweden, and it has an annual turnover in the region of SEK 900 million.
- The need for a cohesive system that facilitates the achievement of results
- A desire for improved participation from the employees who are not based at the office
- Hypergene Strategic Management for mobile phones
- A cohesive system for better overview of how the operations are progressing, and increased participation
Encouraging and increasing participation in the work is a vital issue for all organisations, but the nature of certain business operations can make this difficult to achieve. It has always been a goal of Wibax’s Board and management team that all employees, irrespective of their position and place of work, should have the same opportunity to participate in the daily operational work with monitoring of targets. However, given that so many of the company’s employees seldom or never spend time in front of a computer, an alternative means of reaching them with relevant information was needed; a solution that can be adapted to reflect this target group’s daily reality.
Now everyone has the activities in their mobile phone and this, combined with the fact that Hypergene is such a user-friendly tool, has increased participation at all levels.Emma Nyström, CEO Assistant at Wibax.
Even if employees do not use a computer on a daily basis, everyone has a mobile phone. Hypergene’s Strategic Management module for mobile devices turned out to be the best solution for reaching the employees, and in particular the truck drivers, with relevant information in a simple and user-friendly manner. Strategic Management is based on the Board’s and the management team’s strategic plans, which are then broken down into sub-goals and activities that are communicated to the organisation.
KPIs can be linked to the activities to ensure that the goals are achieved. The mobile interface that Wibax and Hypergene have developed permits the user to report back and provide feedback, make comments and change statuses in the processes in which they participate. As an example in this particular case, some of the activities on which the truck drivers can provide reporting, feedback and comments include details of fuel consumption, punctuality to the customer and service requirements for the trucks. All of this is done with the aim of providing each employee with an opportunity to participate, exert influence and understand how the individual activities impact on the business as a whole.
”Before we chose Hypergene, we had a system that was not particularly user-friendly, which meant that many employees found it difficult and were put off from using the system regularly. Now everyone has the activities in their mobile phone and this, combined with the fact that Hypergene is such a user-friendly tool, has increased participation at all levels”, says Emma Nyström, CEO Assistant at Wibax.
For the company’s management team and Board, the Strategic Management module is the tool that facilitates a structured work method for planning, reporting and monitoring of the strategic goals. Evaluation of how well the company has succeeded in achieving the set goals and KPIs takes place at management level once a month.
”Thanks to Hypergene, we now have an effective and user-friendly system for our strategic planning work, and we are continuously provided with a cohesive overview of how well we are doing”, concludes Emma Nyström.
